The Problem

Auto repair has a trust problem. A 2024 AAA survey found that two-thirds of U.S. drivers don't trust auto repair shops. The reasons are obvious: unnecessary repairs, inflated labor charges, parts markup without disclosure and pressure tactics that exploit the fact that most people don't know the difference between a timing belt and a serpentine belt.

Austin makes it worse. The city's growth has brought hundreds of new shops — some excellent, some predatory. Google reviews help, but they're easily gamed. Yelp is better but still unreliable. The only way to really know if a shop is honest is to understand car repair yourself or know someone who does.

That's where we come in.

How We Vet Shops

ASE certification. Every technician working on your car holds current ASE certification in their specialty. Not "we have one ASE-certified tech on staff" — every tech who touches your vehicle is certified.

Written estimates before work begins. No surprises. No "we found something else while we were in there" without calling you first. The approved estimate is the final bill — period.

Old parts returned. Honest shops show you what they replaced. New brake pads sitting next to your worn-down originals proves the work was done and needed. If a shop can't show you old parts, how do you know they actually replaced them?

No pressure upsells. Recommendations are written with priority levels: "needs now" vs "monitor" vs "next visit." Nobody pressures you into a $400 fuel system cleaning during an oil change.

Warranty on work. Minimum 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. Most of our partners offer 24/24. If the repair fails within warranty, they fix it again at no charge.

Fair pricing verification. We compare shop rates against market data. If a shop's labor rate or parts markup is significantly above Austin averages without justification, they're not in our network.

What We Don't Do

We don't employ mechanics. We're a matching service. We connect you with independently owned Austin shops that meet our vetting standards. This means you get a shop that specializes in your vehicle type — a European car specialist for your BMW, a truck shop for your F-150.

We don't inflate prices. The shop pays us for the referral. Your price is the same as if you'd walked in off the street — often better, because we negotiate preferred rates across our partner network.

We don't disappear after the match. If the shop underperforms or doesn't meet the standards they were vetted against, call us. We hold partners accountable and will rematch you if needed.
